art and music

hi everyone,
it sounds like we have all been pretty busy. lisette left on saturday night which seemed too short! we all had a great time and got even closer as friends. she got to know ben and loved him. she was the best guest because she was not interested too much in the touristy things we spent a lot everyday hanging out and then visiting galleries, all of which were new for me. we saw one of the most important photographers of all time cindy sherman. we also went to the bauhaus museum which was so cool. then in the evenings we went out, once to a fantastic jazz club which we now frequent and once to white trash where there were two good bands and we danced. saturday ben made us a delish meal.
lisette is thinking of coming to berlin for a month starting at the end of march. she might stay with us and pay rent.
this wednesday morning mike and leslie are coming. we skyped with them last night and they want to go to amsterdam and budapest... we plan to go to at least one of those places with them (more likely amsterdam because it is closer although i really want to go to budapest too!!!). while they are here my friend david is coming too!! we are going to have a full house.
as far as the yale application goes, it is due on March 23rd. I have to fill out the paper work and write a short statement which I hope to get done over the next few days. Then I will send it to you with instructions i guess (like it needs a $20 money order, etc.) and then you can send it to their address. I have Ellen and Darrell writing me letters of rec which they will send directly to the school.
yesterday we went to the screening of the film Ben's bakery was in it was so cool! We went to an italian restaurant that i think all of you would like. and we got to meet all of these great people including a food critic named Ursula that was so interesting (and focused on ideas that interest us like the slow food movement, etc.) we talked for a while and she invited us to her book reading later this month where we can meet cheese makers and sample obscure german cheese from the countryside, i'm so excited!!
also, ben's boss gave him the ultimate compliment yesterday... he is all about soul and energy (a total hippie) and he said ben has the baker's touch... something he says most professional bakers don't have. ben is very excited about that.
we miss you guys though!! it is strange though how home sickness changes with time. in the beginning it was not an issue, then about a month in it hit, then at christmas it was really bad, but soon enough you get your own routine and cannot constantly think about it, but it is always there.
