Hi Guys,
Life is keeping all of us busy. I hope you're doing well! I look forward to our family reunion even though it's a short one! I am so proud of both of you having the ability to participate in the bigger world gaining knowledge and experience and contributing to your environment and fields (Dan, I know you're still deciding :) Keep up the good work, tenacity, creativity, and perseverance, especially when you feel disappointment or homesick. We are here for each other always, no matter how far you are!!
Our family budget continues to be tight with property tax bill, car registration bills, tuition, credit cards (from travels) all need to be paid shortly. At times I wish we were all born into money, but that's not the case. Consequently we work very hard for our life goals, which is not a bad thing actually. People who have everything handed to them often appreciate and utilize their abilities less and are ill prepared for the real world. Right now we have little wiggle room for anything outside of our budget, given that we must pay down our credit cards and loans in order to put ourselves back into a better financial position for future endeavors such as starting a business. We have to be super disciplined to accomplish this! Look out for any paying opportunities (internships or jobs) and apply for them early (many accept applications now). Competition is fierce, so be resourceful and use your networks.
The extended families are good. Gung Gung Jim sounds great and seems to be improving everyday, and PauPau seems to be very preoccupied with his well being. She is still working everyday, which I think helps her cope with Gung Gung Jim's recovery better - she can't micromanage it this way. Tai Pau is as spunky as ever - she has been playing MaJong at the senior center and being consulted on how to improve the food served at the center - right up her alley :) She will be staying with us in Dec. during my break. Grandpa Jorge's family seems to be doing well - he needs help figuring out the true north from magnetic north for his Direct TV - dad will probably help him this weekend. Grandma Maria visited but didn't mention anything about auntie & John as if she has no clue about their situation. That's why I think that it's best not to mention anything to Megan or Nick (I don't know if you speak or write to them) to avoid problems.
Maxy is cute as usual but getting quite vocal. He often huffs and puffs and moans to get my attention when we are home alone. He'll be happy to have both of you around!!
Let's shoot for cheap flights for Amanda's visit to you, Dan. You guys need to decide on the details, and let me know. I just want pictures of you two together at Yale - fair trade?
For Thanksgiving, Amanda wants to make green bean casserole. Dan, can you make your infamous creme brule and pumpkin pies? Dad & I will make a couple new dishes too. We have invited Sharon and Emily - it's no fun to make Thanksgiving dinner for two!!
Say hello to Paris and Ben for me :)
It's always nice to hear or see pictures from you guys. I miss and love you very much!
Mama
