Miss You Guys!

Wow, I have been so busy that I couldn't find time to tell you how much I missed you guys at Chinese New Year. Not only was I busy, dad and I were sick too. What a new year! I have a lot on my plate, working on 3 big projects and the pre-doctoral scholarship program application. I told you about the program last year, and I am now geared up to go through the tedious process, which I think is worth it. If I am accepted, I will be involved in paid research internships and a "fellowship" that would help me get into graduate/doctoral programs of my choice with a scholarship. I am considering going into Special Education, because I am interested in Multiculturalism and Multilingualism in Education (good programs for the L. A. area)and they fall under Special Ed. I will apply for the program, knowing it's very difficult to get in - only 18 students from Cal State LA are in it right now. It will give me experience in applying for this type of programs and the skill may come in handy later. Also, I believe I have a chance, because I have a very enthusiastic professor as my sponsor and good qualifications, except that I might be a little shaky on the financial need part. Applicants must show the need for financial help based on income, too bad not on expenses! However, it is a bad time economically right now - our shop actually had to lay off two people. It's tricky that financial aid is always based on last year's income, which does not always reflect your current financial situation. Anyway, this is what I've been working on. Wish me good luck; I'll need it. The app is due March 6. I'll keep you posted!
Even though I'm so busy, I think about you guys a lot! I hope you are doing well and enjoying your experience far far away from home. Do well & be well, and Dad and I are proud of you.
Love ya,
Mama
