Hey familia,
I wanted to say hello while i still have the internet, haha. i am writing you from samantha's place in prague! this city is unbelievably beautiful. prague is one of the few major european cities in this general area that did not get bombed during the WW's and that is why it is so historically rich and beautiful. it is interesting to think that most of the european cities, like berlin, would look more like this if they were not bombed...
We road tripped down from berlin... Our first stop was Dresden, absolutley stunning. when we were driving on the edge of the city it looked very ugly, haha, and desolate. eventually we stopped in what is called altstadt- old city. we stumbled upon their amazing outdoor plaza which is nicknamed the "balcony of europe" which was on the elbe river. In the river they have the biggest and oldest fleet of steamboats. Then we took off and drove the scenic route to Saxon Switzerland, sandstone rock formations near the german/czech border. It had gotten dark but from what we could see they were really stunning.
So we got to Prague late friday night and went into Old Town which is the center of the city. We saw their famous astronomical clock on the front of the Old Town Hall and hung out at a Czech Winter Market which was very interesting then ate some dinner and slept. Yesterday we saw all the sights, basically. We went to their famous castle distict which has all of their main tourist attractions and is just insanely gorgeous... with spectacular views. We also went to a place called Petron Hill and went up the 1/4 size Eiffel Tower replica, haha, which has the best view of the city. Today we are going to go to a couple modern art museums and the previous jewish district which is where a famous myth takes place... pretty exciting.
I will post pics asap when i get back, but if you want to see prague sooner check out the kayne west viseo called diamonds are forever. all the shots of him rapping were taken in front of the coolest places in prague! free tour, haha.
love you all!
