A quick update from PauPau today: Gung Gung Jim has also been diagnosed with infection in his pancreas due to advanced diabetes besides his alcohol related illnesses. The swelling on his face has come down, looking a bit skinny, but his legs and arms are still swollen. He is going through alcohol withdraws now and under around-the-clock monitoring because the withdrawal symptoms can get severe and create complications. He is scheduled to have MRI done in two days for further assessment of his condition. PauPau sounded good under the circumstances; we talked for awhile today. She has decided to quit both drinking and smoking - I am very happy for her! Uncle Eric and Isabel both called me after reading PauPau's posting on Facebook. They were all in San Diego for the weekend.

p.s. Dad will have lots of fun tomorrow harvesting scallops! I can't wait to taste the fruit of his labor...at the scallop bbq.
